Call to Worship
Leader: We gather together,

Leader: Waving branches of prayer,
People: Walking toward Easter.
Opening Prayer
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
Gracious and forbearing God, we remember how people welcomed your Son on the day we have come to call Palm Sabbath. We also remember with sorrow how so many of the same people were there again, just a few days later, shouting, "Crucify him!" We confess that we feel a guilty, uneasy kinship with these people. Like them, we lack solid, well-thought-out principles. Like them, we switch our opinions in whatever direction self-interest seems to dictate. Like them, we do what it takes in order to stay popular or safe. Remind us, O God, of the courage of Jesus, who set his face steadfastly toward Jerusalem, even though he knew the fate that awaited him there. In his name we pray. Amen.
Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15).
People: He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).
