Call to Worship (Psalm 116:1-2)
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And with you also.
Leader: I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
People: Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
Opening Prayer
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
Righteous God,
You have crowned Jesus Christ as Lord of all.
We confess that we have not bowed before him.
We are slow to acknowledge his rule.
We are faithful to the wrong things.
We give allegiance to the powers of this world.
We fail to be governed by justice and love.
In your mercy, forgive us.
Raise us to acclaim him as ruler of all,
that we may be loyal ambassadors,
Obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For it is in his name that we pray. Amen.
Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ; you are forgiven.
People: May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy spirit keep us in eternal life.

The Psalmist says, “I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD” (116:13). We have come together today to call upon the name of the Lord with rejoicing. Welcome!
The Session will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m.
Summerfest is this Saturday, August 25, and we will be doing a fundraiser in our church backyard. We need some help Friday night to set up tents and tables. We start at 6:30 p.m. We also need help Saturday morning to complete the setup. We will start at 8:00 a.m. (You might as well come early anyway, to find a parking place.) Further, we need donations of tea, Pepsi products, homemade cakes, pies, and cookies.
We will have a cook-out on Wednesday here at the church, 6:30 p.m.
