Call to Worship (from II John)

Leader:  The Lord be with you.

People:  And with you Also.

Leader:  Those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh are antichrist!

People:  Those who do not abide in the teaching of Christ do not have God.

Leader:  Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Righteous God,

You have crowned Jesus Christ as Lord of all.

We confess that we have not bowed before him.

We are slow to acknowledge his rule.

We are faithful to the wrong things.

We give allegiance to the power of Antichrist.

We fail to be governed by justice and love.

We do not follow the teachings of gentle Jesus.

In your mercy, forgive us.

Raise us to acclaim him as ruler of all,

Inspire us to obey the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For it is in his name that we pray. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader:  The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting.  I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ; you are forgiven.

People:  May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.

Both Margaret Harbin and Pam Smith had surgery this week and are recovering at home.  Nancy Stewart is also recovering at home after an injury.  Please remember all our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

The WOC is planning a bridal miscellaneous shower for Lindsay Phillips on this afternoon, from 3 to 4, in the Ladies’ Parlor.  Come and help Trey and Lindsay celebrate this happy occasion.

Summerfest is August 26.  Once again, we will be doing a fundraiser during Summerfest.  We need everyone’s help.  We need workers to set up, take down, and clean up.  We also need workers for every other aspect of this fundraiser.    Further, we need donations of tea, Coke and Pepsi products, homemade cakes, and pies.
