Concerns of the Church

Call to Worship (Galatians 6:14)

Leader: May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,

People By which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Opening Prayer

Prayer

O Lord God, eternal and almighty Father, we confess and acknowledge unfeignedly before thy holy majesty that we are poor sinners, conceived and born in iniquity and corruption, prone to do evil, incapable of any good, and that in our depravity we transgress thy holy commandments without end ofr ceasing: Wherefore we purchase for ourselves, through thy righteous judgement, our ruin and perdition. Nevertheless, O Lord, we are grieved that we have offended thee,; and we condemn ourselves and ours sins with true repentance, beseeching thy grace to relieve our distress. O God and Father most gracious and full of compassion, have mercy upon us in the name of thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. And as thou dost blot out our sins and stains, magnify and increase in us day by day the grace of thy Holy Spirit; that as we acknowledge our unrighteousness with all our heart, we may be moved by that sorrow which shall bring forth true repentance in us, mortifying all our sins and producing in us the fruits of righteousness and innocence which are pleasing unto thee; through the same Jesus Christ our lord. Amen. (John Calvin Geneva 1542)

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15).

People: He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).

Announcements

Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well the main ends of life and studies, to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, and therefore to lay Christ ... as the only foundation of all knowledge and learning and see the Lord only as the Giver of wisdom. Let everyone seriously set himself by praying in secret to seek Christ as Lord and Master (John Harvard, founder of Harvard College).

Louise McDaniel has returned to White Oak from the hospital. Mary Brown's grandson, Josh Brown, has returned home from the hospital. Lee Sherer, Richard Sherer's father, has been transferred to Westminster Towers. Please remember all our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

We will have both sessions of Bible Study (At 10:30 a.m. and at 7:00 p.m.) this Wednesday, September 18.
