Call to Worship (I John 5:13)
Leader: The Lord be with you.
People: And with you also.
Leader: John says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
People: So that you may know that you have eternal life.
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
You have crowned Jesus Christ as Lord of all.
We confess that we have not bowed before him.
We have not glorified his name.
We are slow to acknowledge his rule.
We are faithful to the wrong things.
We give allegiance to the powers of this world.
We honor governments and men.
We fail to be governed by justice and love.
In your mercy, forgive us.
Raise us to acclaim him as ruler of all,
that we may be loyal ambassadors,
Obeying the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For it is in his name that we pray. Amen.
Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ; you are forgiven.
People: May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.
