Call to Worship

Leader: Look, the stone is rolled away!

People: HE IS RISEN!

Leader: Look, the bloodstained cloth is set aside!

People: HE IS RISEN!

Leader: Look, the tomb is filled with light!

People: HE IS RISEN!

Leader: He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Almighty God, In raising Jesus from the grave, you shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear. We remain bound by the ways that lead to death. We overlook the poor and the hungry. We pass by those who mourn. We are deaf to the cries of the oppressed and indifferent to calls for peace. We despise the weak and abuse the earth you made. Forgive us, God of mercy. Help us to trust your power to change our lives and make us new, that we may know the joy of life abundant given in Jesus Christ, the Risen Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. (Rom 8:34)

People: So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (II Cor. 5:17)
