Concerns of the Church

Call to Worship (Joel 2:28)

Leader: Then afterward I will pour out my spirit on all flesh;

People: Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Leader: Your old men shall dream dreams,

People: And your young men shall see visions.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession: (in unison)

Spirit of Truth, coming from the depths of God, you know all too well what lurks deep within us.

We confess that we have not loved one another as the Lord has loved us. We are quick to find fault and spread gossip, sins that undermine the whole fellowship of believers. We have left the strangers and seekers among us feeling like outsiders. We have not done our best to carry the Good News of Jesus Christ beyond these walls.

Forgive our casual disregard of the Lord's command to go and make disciples. We have not used faithfully the powerful gifts of love and service you gave the church at Pentecost. Renew a right spirit within us, that we may carry Christ's love and mercy from this place into our weekday community and to the world beyond.

We pray in the name of Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Father, one God now and forever. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. (Rom 8:34)

People: So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (II Cor. 5:17)

The Session has appointed a committee to study the feasibility of hiring a Youth Director. This committee is currently meeting and is studying such matters as cost, job description, available candidates, etc. The committee asks for your prayers and support for this project. If you have information you would like to give to the committee, please contact Jeff Rossy.

The Committee to hire a Youth Director will meet immediately after Morning Worship today.

Vacation Bible School begins tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. If you know a child who would like to come, sign them up on the sheet in the narthex. Children will also need to have signed permission slips. You can obtain those slips in the narthex.

Outreach North America is a Synod program to build new churches in the United States. As you may remember several years ago, Synod began an ONA drive to raise money for this purpose. At that time, our church's portion of the drive was $4806.50. Since then, we have raised $3975.50. We still owe $831. We urge you in your giving to remember this program and finish our pledge.

General Synod meets at Bonclarken June 11-13.

Father's Day is June 17.

First Baptist Church is sponsoring a Senior Adult Revival on the first three Tuesdays in June. The event begins at 4:00 p.m. and concludes at 7:00 p.m. It includes a snack supper. All senior adults are invited.
