Call to Worship (Psalm 8:1)

Leader:  The Lord be with you.

People:  And with you also.

Leader:  O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

People:  You have set your glory above the heavens.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

O Lord God, eternal and almighty Father, we confess and acknowledge unfeignedly before thy holy majesty that we are poor sinners, prone to evil, transgressing thy holy commandments without end or ceasing, wherefore we purchase for ourselves, through thy righteous judgment, our ruin and perdition.  O God and Father, most gracious and full of compassion, have mercy upon us.  Blot out our sins and stains.  Magnify and increase in us day by day the grace of thy Holy Spirit.  As we acknowledge our unrighteousness with all our heart, may we be moved by that sorrow which shall bring forth true repentance in us, mortifying all our sins and producing in us the fruits of righteousness and innocence, which are pleasing unto thee; through Jesus Christ our lord.  Amen.

(Derived from John Calvin, Geneva 1542)

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader:  The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15).

People:  He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).

The Psalm says that God has crowned us “with glory and honor” (8:5).  What a wonderful, uplifting promise.  You are a glorious and honorable person, and you are welcome to this service.

The WOC is planning a trip to Bonclarken for Tuesday, July 25, for one day of the Bible Conference.  The van will leave the church at 7:00 a.m.  Anyone in the congregation is welcome to go.  There is a registration fee of $8, and lunch costs about $7.  Please let Jane Sherer know if you plan to go.

If anyone has suggestions for activities or trips for the children or adults please see Susan Heffner, our Activities Director.
