Our purpose is to proclaim that God is Love

"Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love" (I John 4:7-8).

God is the unique Subject in a divine sentence whose verb is love.  God's love is the foundation of all reality.  It is through God's love that all things live and move and have their being (Acts 17:28).  God is the supremely related One sharing the experience of every creature and and being experienced by every Creature .  [See the sermon "Omnipresence" (Go to Sermons and scroll down to February 13, 2005).]

Jesus Christ was fully responsive to God's call and God's love.  His life and death thereby revealed the character of God's love and God's call for each of us.
