Call to Worship
Leader: Give thanks to the Lord for God is good.
People: God’s amazing love endures forever.
Leader: When our hearts are troubled, God comforts us.
People: God’s extravagant love endures forever.
Leader: When our spirits struggle, God heals us.
People: God’s generous love endures forever.
Opening Prayer (In unison)
God, the source of all healing, touch our lives with your Spirit. Give us, we pray, your forgiveness. Bring wholeness to our broken lives. Bring guidance to our troubled lives. Help us turn away from sin and selfishness and lead us in the ways of health, peace, and love. Be with us now, here in this holy place, here in our worship; in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Prayer of Confession (in unison)
Loving God, it is so easy to want our share, to get all we can. Sometimes in the getting and wanting, we lose sight of you, O God. We think we need so much — that new car, a new suit, a new stereo, or the latest iPod. In all this accumulation, we just have more things. Today, in our community, families go hungry. More and more children go to bed hungry each night. Help me, Lord, to see beyond me and my wants. Help me to look to the needs of others above my own; in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
Declaration of Forgiveness
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ; you are forgiven.
People: May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy spirit keep us in eternal life.

The psalmist wrote, "O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you" (Psalm 84:12, NRSV). Let us be open today to the happiness and joy that God offers each of us. We are pleased that each of you has come today. Welcome, friends!
We will have a cook-out on Wednesday, August 29, here at the church, 6:30 p.m.
