Opening Prayer

Proclamation of the Entrance Into Jerusalem

Mark 11:1-10 (in unison)

When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples  and said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it.   If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' just say this, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.'"

They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, some of the bystanders said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"   They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it.

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it.   Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields.  Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!  Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"

Psalm 118:19-29

19  Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:

20  This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.

21  I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

22  The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

23  This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

24  This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25  Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

26  Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

27  God is the LORD, which hath showed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28  Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29  O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

Sing Hosanna to the Savior on this glorious Palm Sabbath.  A hearty welcome to all who have come to worship our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer

The Session and Diaconate will have a joint meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m.

During Holy Week (beginning tomorrow), the Western York County Christian Ministerial Association will have Community services every day at noon.  The services are at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.  A light lunch is served after the service.  This year Tuesday is "OUR" day.  On Tuesday, the ARP Church and the Wesleyan Church are serving lunch.  Dr. Tony Grant is preaching that day.

No Bible Study this week.  We invite you to go to the Community Holy Week Services instead.  Bible Study will resume next week.

We will have Maundy Thursday Communion this Thursday, April 17, at 7:00 p.m. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall.

The WOC has decided not to have individual Easter lilies this year but to have one large arrangement.  If you would like to make a special offering in honor or memory of someone, please give your check to Frances Nivens and put for whom it is given on the sheet in the narthex today.  We will have a special insert with this information in the bulletin on Easter Sunday.  This will go to the General Fund.

Youth: Wednesday  Movie and Ice Cream trip.

Next Sabbath, April 20, is Easter.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast will be on the fourth Sabbath this month (April 27).

Having been in the auto parts business since 1948, Arnold Yarborough has retired.  Arnold opened his first store on Congress Street in 1968, moved to 15 Roosevelt Street in 1974.  Now, after more than half a century, he is enjoying a well-earned retirement.  We wish Arnold and Dot well.

It pleased God, in his eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, his only begotten Son, to be the Mediator between God and Man, the Prophet, Priest, and King; the head and Savior of his church; the Heir of all things; and Judge of the world; unto whom he did from all eternity give a people to be his seed, and to be by him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified.

(Westminster Confession of Faith, chapter VIII).
