Call to Worship

Leader: Sing a new song

People: Full of incredible joy.

Leader: Let all the waterfalls clap their hands and the mountains and hills ring out gladness.

People: For Christ is risen.

Leader: Heaven and nature sing,

People: For the Savior reigns, and the wonders of God's love are everywhere.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

God of patient love, your generous and ever-seeking heart is often a contrast to our chosen way. We are prone to make snap judgments, form quick opinions, and rely on flimsy prejudices. We look for differences that let us exclude, rather than differences that give us cause for celebrating each other's uniqueness. We see the outside appearances and miss the deep glance into the heart. We are all too ready for others to be judged and put in their place. We are reluctant to face our own faults, to look into our own hearts. God of patient love, help us hear again that your desire is for the salvation of all your people-- even ourselves and those we exclude. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness (Psalm 103:8,10-12)

Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

People: For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us.
