Concerns of the Church

Call to Worship (Psalm 130:5)

Leader: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

Leader: I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

People: And in God’s word I hope;

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession: (in unison)

Holy and merciful God, in your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against you. You alone know how often we have sinned, in wandering from your ways, in wasting your gifts, in forgetting your love. Have mercy on us, 0 Lord, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we have done to displease you. Forgive our sins, and help us to live in your light, and walk in your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen

Declaration of Forgiveness (Psalm 103:8,10-12)

Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

People: For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The psalmist prayed: "Restore us, O LORD God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved" (Psalm 80:19). May all who have come to worship find restoration, inner peace, and spiritual strength. Welcome one and all!

The church needs a new nursery attendant. If you know of anyone who is interested in this position, please contact the church secretary, Frances Nivens.

Summerfest 2001 is only a few weeks away (August 25)!!! Once again, our WOC will sponsor this annual fundraiser, but we need everyone's help. Workers, donations of tea, Coke and Pepsi products, homemade cakes and pies are needed. If you would like to help in any of these ways, call Dot Yarborough at 684-6884. If you would like to make a donation of money to defray expenses, please give your contributions to Frances Nivens.

There will be a covered dish supper on Wednesday, August 29, 7:00 p.m. We invite you to bring some covered dishes, and come and share. This supper will be the kick-off for Wednesday Bible Study which begins September 5. This year in Bible Study we will be studying Biblical prayer.

Misty Setzer is our guest pianist today. We are glad to have Misty with us again.
