Concerns of the Church

Call to Worship (Psalm 130:5-6)

Leader: The Lord be with you.

People: And with you also.

Leader: I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

People: My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (In Unison)

ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou those who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind In Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader: Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. (Rom 8:34)

People: So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (II Cor. 5:17)

Announcements

With genuine gladness, we welcome all that have come to praise God. May all our hearts be open to our Creator and one another as we share in worship together.

Summerfest 2002 is only a few weeks away (August 24)!!! Once again, our WOC will sponsor this annual fundraiser, but we need everyone's help. We especially need workers to help set up and take down and clean up. We also need workers for every other aspect of our fundraiser. Further, we need donations of tea, Coke and Pepsi products, homemade cakes and pies. If you would like to help in any of these ways, call Barbara Bennett at 684-4833. If you would like to make a donation of money to defray expenses, please give your contributions to Frances Nivens.

Newton Wells had surgery this week. Lily Ruth had surgery this week. Louise McDaniel is still in Piedmont Hospital. Charles Blackwell has been released from the hospital. Please remember these and all our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.
