Call to Worship  (Psalm 16:1-2)

Leader:  The Lord be with you.

People:  And with you also.

Leader:  Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

People:  I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you."

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Almighty, eternal God and Father, we confess and acknowledge unto thee that we were conceived in unrighteousness and are full of sin and transgression in all our life.  We do not fully believe thy word nor follow thy holy commandments. Remember thy goodness, we beseech thee, and for thy name's sake be gracious unto us, and forgive us our iniquity.  This we pray in the name of the only-begotten Son, Amen.

[Martin Bucer 1539]

Declaration of Forgiveness

Leader:  The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (I Timothy 1:15).

People:  He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed (I Peter 2:24).

On Father’s Day, which is next Sabbath, June 19, we will have an all-male choir.  We invite all the men of the church to join the choir that Sabbath.  Come and sing with us even if you cannot sing a note!

Tracy Atchley will be working with our young people this summer.  Tracy is the daughter of Joe and Gail Atchley, and a recent Erskine graduate.  She taught last year in Anderson.  At the end of the summer, she is getting married and moving to Hickory, NC.  Welcome Tracy!

George Herbert Chambers, Jr., 62, died June 6, 2005.  He was the son of Jeanette Chambers .  The funeral was at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Wednesday.  “Herbie” has now claimed the promises of the gospel and gone to be with the Lord.  We pray God’s comfort for the family.

Gail Atchley had surgery on Wednesday.  Please remember Gail and all our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.
